Date: Wednesday April 2nd, 2014
Location; Dufferin Forest
Riders: Tyler, Johnny, Rosemary
This past week we had a new fat bike member come out and join us for a tour, Rosemary, riding her very nice Norco fatty. With the warm temperatures during the day, the trails were soft, very soft…. During the ride Rosemary was taking photos of us, which actually worked out for the better for us.
With us taking photos and buggering around the trails the temperature started to fall, which in turn started to crust up the surface. After all the photos were done, we decided to take Max out for a run, and head back to the logging area.
The ride down was fun as on the side of the sled trail we found spots of dirt. Yes dirt, the dark coloured snow. From our ride on the weekend, noone had been in the forest on the sled trails as our tire marks from the last ride were still there… We turned around at the logging and headed out.
All in all we had a really fun ride, covering just shy of 8km, which was a lot more than I expected to be completely honest.
Again, we are getting closer and closer to riding on dirt with normal bikes. Also, on a side note, from hearing on the streets, the trails at Midhurst are packed down well enough that people were riding normal bikes out there. not sure how it will be there this weekend for skinny tires.
Fat Tire Rating; 3.45 out of 5
