Fat Tire Trail Report

Riders: Tyler and Johnny
The 2 of us started a tad earlier, 6pm, for the first team van go duathalon… Biking / Snowshoeing. Surprisingly it worked out very well… Strapped the snowshoes to our backs and away we went. The trails were soft, and a good push to go. We started with our standard signletrack section, which again I have to thank all the snowshoers who keep trucking along it to pack it down.
From there we hit the snowmobile trail back to the logging section to start scoping out the landscape. We dumped the bikes into the forest, and started treking around. We tried to follow the old trail in sections, but with the snow and the tracks left by the loggers it was near impossible. One positive is that the debris left is not near as bad as it has been in the past. There left some deadfall, and brush, but it seemed to be almost pilled…
We trucked around for about 1/2hr or so, before jumping back on the bikes and heading back to the cars. the chug from the back out was long. Tyler had a very annoying brake squeak that had to be fixed, to the point where the breaks were backed off all the way… You dont need front brakes on sled trail.
All in all the bike and shoe were fun, bike was tough but fun still. We are getting closer to spring, I think…. Reminder to get your bikes worked on for the spring. you dont want to be left out of rides waiting for your bike to be ready for riding.
