Sausage Suit ITT Recap
October 18th, 2016 by Tyler in EverythingWhat an absolutely amazing day we had on Saturday. The weather was perfect, and all in all everything was in great shape. A bit of rain the previous day made Dufferin Forest the ideal spot yet again to host the Annual Sausage Suit ITT race, put on by Dan Marshall and Substance Projects.
This year there were 77 folks registered for the race, making this year the largest SSITT we’ve had in its short history. This year, like every other year, we try and step it up, and make it more fun for everyone with our Gorilla Hill beer station, sponsored this year by Team Van Go.
Janet was the starter again this year, ensuring people knew when to take off and a huge thank you to her for that.
Like last year, each lap measured out at 16km, with there being 2 races, a single lap or double lap. The registration was pretty much split between 1 and 2 laps, which is amazing. Team van go had a great turnout yet again, and so nice to see a lot of other folks from all over coming out to enjoy the trails at Dufferin Forest.
First rider out for the day is the Gorilla which this year was Mr Awesome Dan. He set a great pace to start the day, then finish, get changed and out to serve beer to everyone coming through.
This year, like every year, we run the same course, starting with the Stick, Kens, Steves, Trail to Nowhere, Lollipop, and out on the stick, making each lap 16km in length. The first half always seems tougher, as you have a lot more aggressive climbs, and the second half has a tonnes of fun flow.
Luckily this year, the Gorilla was able to meet the 15km folks coming through to serve beer to them as well as the 30km folks on their second lap by.
The beer as always is nice and cold, and hits the spot for the last 1km to the finish line.
The Creemore Lot 9 Pilsner was a good choice for the race for sure!
As you can tell by the below photos, Team van go had another great showing!!
Like always, after the ride, awards, and draw prizes, we sit around and enjoy a fire, some drinks, and tell tales of the arduous journey through the forest.
Hat’s off to Dan and all the Volunteers for helping out and putting on yet another great Sausage Suit.
