This past weekend was Substance Projects first Fat Bike Race, for the 45NRTH sponsored series. The event was held at Dufferin Forest, dubbed the “Frozen Beaver”.
The event was a 15 and 30km disipline, with several Team Van Goers competing!.
Conditions were interesting, with the +6C temps, the snow was soft and a tough push for the first lap, but was considerably better the second go around. Still was a tough slog, as the hills became almost unclimbable. With the conditions it created a great spectacle for people crashing, which I think everyone hit the ground at one point or another over the course of the day.
Special thanks to everyone that came out and supported, cheered, drank beer, volunteered etc.
There was a great turnout with 49 riders total, in both the 15 and 30km.
Team van go had 3 podium placers:
Johnny: 3rd (15km) 35-49 Mens
Brian: 3rd (15km) Masters Mens
Derek: 1st (30km) 35-49 Mens
