Fat Tire Trail Report
April 1st, 2014 by Tyler in EverythingDate: Sunday March 30th, 2014
Location: Dufferin Forest
Weather: Sunny and very nice
Riders: Tyler, Johnny, Don
Runners: Karen
Dogs: Max
We had a great day out on the trails this past Sunday. The sun was shining, the parking lot was quiet, and the forest was very picturesque. Tyler, Johnny and Don were the combatants for the 8km ride. With the warmer temperatures, the snow was soft, and made for a good trudge through the forest.
We headed out on the singletrack through the pines, which were in great shape. With the added shade that section was great, then we got out into the open areas where the hardwood forest was. This is where is softened up. Still was fun, but just 100x harder to ride….
We hooked into the snowmobile trail for a while, it was in alright shape, still a good push, and a bit of front tire washing here and there, but you could survive the trails. Near the end of the ride, we hooked back up with Karen and Max, and the only way we could keep up was to take a short cut, and even that Karen was way faster than us. Based on the GPS, our average speed for the ride was 6.21km/hr, so breakneck speeds were had….
A few positives from the ride:
1. It was the last ride of March
2. The snow has decreased from Mid Thigh depth to knee depth.
3. We found some dirt in the parking lot that we rode in circles.
4. All around a pigs arse is pork.
5. We are almost at the end of the winter riding season.
Fat Tire Rating: 3.15 out of 5
Runner Rating: I think around the same…
Skinny Tire Rating: n/a
