Location: Dufferin Forest
Riders: Tyler, Johnny, Chris
The group of us showed up at Dufferin Forest to a nice quiet parking lot. Loading up our water, put the lights on and away we go. We headed down the snowmobile trail, which was surprisingly cold. Thank goodness for wearing a ski helmet for this night.
We decided at this point we wanted to try the trail that was snowshoed a couple weeks back. When we turned around Tyler had a slight mechanical, whereas the spring on the rear brakes was rubbing up against the rotor. After struggling to remove the pads, we succeeded pulled the spring out and back on the bikes. Only problem, we had a 3km chug back up the slight incline.
We made it back to the snowshoe trail and away we went… for about 3ft….. tried again, made it another 10ft… We were getting farther for sure!!! Once we reached the top of the hill we were trying to climb came a great downhill! This was rideable… We decided to follow the snowshoe trails from the recent orienteering event that happened and what a great idea it was!! Sure you had a very small width to ride on, but you could ride it all.. if you veered off the side of the path your front wheel sunk about 12-18″… which stopped you dead… then when you went to put your foot down it sunk about to your midthigh and down you fell…
After falling a few times, the trail led us back to the parking lot… so we turned around and went back to have more “singletrack” fun.. Falling a bunch more, and laughing our heads off, we finished the ride and had a sociable.
All in all a great ride, even though it was a little short at 10km.
Ride Rating: 4.15 out of 5 (Just for the sheer fun on the snowshoe trail)
